Raymond Robinson | Knight of Cups HAUNTED Tarot Poster

Raymond Robinson aka The Green Man was the victim of an accidental and tragic electrocution that left him without a right hand, eyes, or a nose. As an 8 year old child he climbed a pole and touched a trolley’s electric line that sent 11,000 volts through his small body, nearly killing him. After two months in a Beaver County hospital he miraculously survived with his hearing intact but the severity of his injuries made him somewhat of a pariah. As he grew into adulthood he would walk at night to avoid interacting people. These walks are what built the legend of The Green Man. People constructed tales of a man with glowing green skin from an electrical shock but really it was just Raymond. While it’s said that some encounters with strangers where less than kind, others would share a beer for a story from Raymond. I read accounts of teenagers joining him on walks and chatting amiably, saying he was a gentle man. He lived to be 74 year old, passing away in 1985.

In HAUNTED: A Deck of Tarot, Raymond is the Knight of Cups, a romantic and somewhat naive sweetheart who attempts to see the best in people. In a reading this card represents our regression or desire to return to a simpler and sweeter time.
